Netflix starts testing Android games: Overview

One of the most popular industry out there is gaming with more and more studios emerge, and the streaming giants Netflix are looking to jump into this industry by introducing two new games for the Android Users. The testing phase has started out from Poland, whereas per rumors, we are getting a popular TV show ‘Stranger Things’ based game.

According to reports from Bloomberg, Netflix is offering two games to the Android users for free alongside the Netflix subscription so people won’t have to worry about purchasing games from the Playstore. In a tweet by (@NetflixPL), the commencement about Stranger things games were announced that were Stranger things 1984 and Stranger Things 3. The tweet further read:

“Let’s talk about Netflix games. Starting today, users in Poland can try out two Android mobile games: Stranger Things 1984 and Stranger Things 3. We are at an early stage and we still have a lot of work to do in the coming months, but this is our first step”

As per company’s claim, the Netflix games will be completely free for the user without any advertisement or any sort of in-game micro-transactions. The game will be available on Playstore and for the the time being is only available in Poland and will be released globally, once the testing phase is completed by the company. Netflix not only plans to limit themselves on just one project but they would like themselves to grow in this everlasting and continuously growing industry. It goes without saying that the expansion of their realm to gaming will further broaden their spectrum. Netflix is the one of the largest streaming platforms that there is today. Further, because of the ongoing pandemic, Netflix also reported a significant rise in the purchase numbers of their subscriptions.

Netflix has been looking to enter this industry for quite a few times and have been expanding its investment in gaming for years, seeing the potential for a broader entertainment universe that ties in to its most popular shows. Netflix detailed a series of gaming integrations across popular platforms like Roblox and Fortnite and its plans to bring new “Stranger Things” games to the market. This isn’t first time they have entered the gaming market as they introduced a game style Black Mirror concept 3 years ago which was quite a hit.
