Sony Xperia 10 lll lite

Xperia 10 lll lite

Sony Xperia 10 lll lite: Overview

Once a pioneer and a leading mobile brand Sony, suffered great drawback in smartphone segment over the years due to the technology shift and advent of the smart phones. Ignoring the changing dynamics of the user’s need, the company decided to go with their classic way of doing things like Nokia, Blackberry and introduced over-priced phones hence suffered major losses in terms of market share and popularity within mobile industry. But Sony, in some market places does keep their demand intact like in Japan.

Earlier this year, Sony launched Xperia 10 lll which was a decent smartphone with Snapdragon 690 chipset with a triple rear camera setup and was seen with quite a decent response. Yesterday, Sony announced another entry in the Xperia 10 series and unveiled Sony Xperia 10 lll lite in Japan very silently. Although the device doesn’t justify its ‘Lite’ tag in terms of hardware and internals and also cuts short on storage but it comes with eSim. Let’s dig in and see what does it has to offer to the consumer.

Under the hood, Xperia 10 lll lite comes with almost similar specs to that of Xperia 10 lll. It features a 6.0 inches OLED display with FHD+ resolution. It offers a 1080×2520 pixel resolution with ~457 ppi density and 21:9 aspect ratio. Xperia 10 lll lite offers a gorilla glass 6 protection. The body design features a glass front and back (both gorilla glass 6) along with plastic body frame.

Moving to the software side, Xperia 10 lll lite comes with the same Snapdragon 690 chipset and support 5G. The CPU cores clock at Octa-core (2×2.0 GHz Kryo 560 Gold & 6×1.7 GHz Kryo 560 Silver) with Adreno 619 GPU. It runs on the Android 11 and will get security patches and OS updates for Android 12. One con of this device is the storage space reduction. The lite is limited to only 64GB from 128GB and comes with 6GB Ram. Thankfully, you get a micro SD slot to increase the storage up to 256GB.

The camera department comes with an 8 megapixel front camera which shoots the video at 1080p@30 fps. The rear triple camera setup consists of a 12 megapixel main camera, an 8 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and another 8 MP ultra wide camera setup and a flash slot. It comes with a 4,500mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging. The device is IP68 dust and water-resistant and has eSim functionality.

The phone will be available from 27th August in Japan and will shortly be launched globally. In Japan, the price comes at JPY 46,800 that is equivalent to $425 or 596 AUD. Our verdict is that the device doesn’t justify its price tag but we will see how it performs once it is launched.
